The Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) provides annual training options for statutory and state funded homeless services. This includes key workers/case managers and frontline staff involved in the assessment and placement of persons experiencing homelessness and service managers responsible for the management of these processes.
Two accredited training programmes; the Undergraduate Certificate in Homeless Prevention and Intervention Programme (QQI Level 8) for Key Workers/Case Managers and Frontline Services Staff and Effective Management in Homeless Services Module (QQI Level 8) for Homeless Services Managers commence in Dublin City University in September and February respectively each year. Up-to-date details of the current programmes and the application process for each programme are posted annually on the DRHE website in April (Certificate) and October (Managers module). Lectures for these programmes take place in the School of Nursing and Human Sciences, Dublin City University, Collins Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 9. Funding support towards programme fees is provided by the DRHE for successful applicants who work with DRHE funded organisations/services.
Staff working in non state funded homeless organisations/services, homeless related organisations and local authorities outside of Dublin are eligible to apply for a place on the Dublin City University accredited programmes.
An annual programme of three-hour training/information sessions for Homeless Services staff from Dublin City Council, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council who are involved in the assessment and placement of persons experiencing homelessness will commence in Spring each year and continue until early December. A limited number of places are available per session for staff working with other national statutory and voluntary homeless services/organisations.
All sessions will take place every second Wednesday from 10am - 1pm in The Liffey Room, Wood Quay Venue, Dublin City Council Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8.
