Over the course of two days in July (21st and 22nd), Dublin City Council was delighted to host a presentation by Lewisham Borough Council for councillors from the four Dublin Local Authorities and technical and professional staff, and officials from the Department of Housing to demonstrate how a rapid build housing programme was used to successfully meet the needs of homeless families in London.
Dublin City Council have now confirmed that the agreed final account with Western Building System’s Ltd for the construction of 22 high quality three bed Rapid Build homes at Baile na Laochra, Poppintree, Ballymun has now concluded. The agreed sum is significantly under budget at €180,000 per house. The entire site is now fully serviced with infrastructure, utilities and ESB sub section, which will allow for a significant benefit to the future provision of 50 affordable homes on the remainder of the site, by Ó Cualann Co-housing Alliance GLC.
