Support Worker Relief Panel

 

Sonas Housing Association provides supported transitional housing to women and their children who are homeless due to domestic violence in a number of sites in the Dublin area.
 
Sonas are currently recruiting for our Relief Panel which is used to provide staff cover when needed. This can range from occasional shifts to temporary contract roles, depending on staffing requirements. Appointment to a panel does not provide any guarantee in relation to hours or continuity of work.
 
The following relief roles are available:
 
Women’s Support Worker (Refuge Service) – reference WSWRSR
Children’s Support Worker (Refuge Service) – reference CSWRSR
Night Support Worker (Refuge Service) – reference NSWRSR
Women’s Support Worker (Supported Housing) – reference WSWSHR
Children’s Support Worker (Supported Housing) – reference CSWSHR
 
Women’s Support Worker (Refuge Service) – Relief Panel
Ref: WSWRSR
 
Reporting to the Deputy Refuge Manager, the role involves:
 
  • Delivery of support services to women in the Refuge Service in one-to-one and group settings
  • Advocacy work and court accompaniment with women in the service
  • Ensuring best practice in the delivery of services to women in the Refuge.
 
Hours: Shift working applies; shift hours vary and may include weekends and public holidays.
 
Location: Blanchardstown.
 
Salary:€33,367 - €45,677 (under review and may be subject to the 2009 public sector pay cut).
 
The ideal candidate will have:
 
· 2 years’ experience working in a support role in the area of domestic/gender based violence
· A clear understanding of domestic violence as a gender-based crime and understanding of the impacts it has on women and children’s lives
· Ability to work in a non-judgmental, proactive, calm manner
· Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
· Computer skills with competence in using email, internet and MS Office
· The ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with colleagues and service users
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 
A qualification in a related field and experience working with women with complex needs, including mental health and addiction is desirable.
 
Children’s Support Worker (Refuge Service) – Relief Panel
Ref: CSWRSR
 
Reporting to the Senior Children’s Worker the role involves:
 
  • Providing services to children in the Refuge Service on a one-to-one basis, in families and in a group setting
  • Ensuring best practice in the delivery of services to children in the Refuge
  • Ensuring the needs of service users and their children are central to the work of the children’s service.
Hours: Shift working applies; shift hours vary and may include weekends and public holidays.
 
Location: Blanchardstown.
 
Salary:€33,367 - €45,677 (under review and may be subject to the 2009 public sector pay cut).
 
The ideal candidate will have:
 
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working directly with children
  • A recognised childcare specific qualification (FETAC Level 5 or equivalent)
  • A clear understanding of domestic violence as a gender-based crime and understanding of the impacts it has on women and children’s lives
  • Ability to work in a non-judgmental, proactive, calm manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Computer skills with competence in using email, internet and MS Office
  • The ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with colleagues and service users
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience working directly with women and children who have been affected by domestic violence is desirable.
 
Night Support Worker (Refuge Service) – Relief Panel
Ref: NSWRSR
 
Reporting to the Deputy Refuge Manager this role involves:
 
  • Responding appropriately to services users’ needs over night
  • Admitting and welcoming women and children to the Refuge Service and providing support/information as required
  • Ensuring all telephone calls are answered during the night shift
  • Implementing the over-night security policy.
 
Hours: Shift working applies; shifts will be between the hours of 10pm and 8am and may include weekends and public holidays.
 
Location: Blanchardstown.
 
Salary: Is to be confirmed and will be according to HSE scales.
 
The ideal candidate will have:
 
  • Previous experience working in a support role in the area of domestic/gender based violence or homelessness
  • A clear understanding of domestic violence as a gender-based crime and understanding of the impacts it has on women and children’s lives
  • Ability to work in a non-judgmental, proactive, calm manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Computer skills with competence in using email, internet and MS Office
  • The ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with colleagues and service users
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Women’s Support Worker (Supported Housing) – Relief Panel

Reporting to the Project Leader the role involves:
 
  • Providing long term support to tenants using an empowerment approach, including advocacy, goal setting and one-to-one work
  • Working with tenants to help them to understand and come to terms with their experience of domestic/gender based violence
  • Ensuring that the needs of tenants and their children are central to and inform the work of the organisation and contribute to the development of internal policies and procedure
 
Hours: Shift working applies; shift hours vary and may include weekends and public holidays.
 
Location: Various locations across Dublin.
 
Salary: €33,367 - €45,677 (under review and may be subject to the 2009 public sector pay cut).
 
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Two years’ experience working with vulnerable women
  • A clear understanding of domestic violence as a gender-based crime and the impacts it has on women and children’s lives
  • knowledge and experience of working with women with a variety of complex needs, including addiction and mental health
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • The ability to work in a non-judgmental, proactive, calm manner
  • Computer skills with competence in using email, internet and MS Office
  • The ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with colleagues and tenants.
 
A relevant qualification, previous experience working with women and children affected by domestic violence and a driving license are desirable.
 
Children’s Support Worker (Supported Housing) - Relief Panel

Reporting to the Project Leader the role involves:
 
  • Supporting tenants who have children, recognising women as experts in relation to the needs of their children
  • working with children on a one-to-one basis, in families or peer groups
  • Advocating for tenants and their children
  • Ensuring that the needs of tenants and their children are central to and inform the work of the organisation and contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures.
 
Hours: Shift working applies; shift hours vary and may include weekends and public holidays.
 
Location: Various locations across Dublin.
 
Salary: €33,367 - €45,677 (under review and may be subject to the 2009 public sector pay cut).
 
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing programmes for a children’s service and families
  • A recognised childcare specific qualification (FETAC Level 5 or equivalent)
